Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Change the Clock Size on Lock Screen in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

By default, your phone will display the date and time on lock screen so that you can easily know the current date and time without you have to unlock the screen. The date on lock screen can either be displayed or not, but the time will always be displayed there since this phone doesn't provide an option to show or hide the clock. One thing that can be done to customize the clock on lock screen is by changing its size.


How to change the clock size on lock screen?
As long as the screen lock is not turned off, you can change the clock size by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Lock screen .
  3. Regardless the screen lock that is being used by you, you should see an option to change the clock size within the lock screen menu.
  4. Tap Clock size and then select the desired size from the following options: Small, Normal, and Large. When selecting a size option, you'll be given live preview so that you'll get an idea how big the clock size will be.
  5. Tap Done button to save the changes.
  6. Now, press the Power key twice to go to the lock screen and you'll see the clock is displayed in the selected size.

As a note, the time will displayed in the default format "hh:mm" either in 24-hours format or in AM/PM format depending on the time format you have selected in the date and time settings menu.

By default, the date and time in the Samsung Galaxy SIV is set automatically so that the phone will allow the network to set the date and time for you. However, in case if you want to adjust the date and time or change the date and time format, you can do so with ease through the settings menu.



How to set date and time?
Below are the steps to do so:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap More tab.
  3. Tap Date and time.
  4. Change the date and time:
  5. To set the date and time automatically:
    • Check the box next to Automatic date and time to enable this option.
    • Now, the phone will use the network-provided date and time.
    To set the date and time manually:
    • Clear the checkbox next to Automatic date and time to disable this option.
    • Tap Set date and then adjust the date by tapping the up arrow icon or the down arrow icon and then tap Set button.
    • Tap Set time and then adjust the time by tapping the up arrow icon or the down arrow icon and then tap Set button.
  6. Change the time zone:
  7. To set the time zone automatically:
    • Check the box next to Automatic time zone to enable this option.
    • The phone will use the network-provided time zone.
    To set the time zone manually:
    • Clear the check box next to Automatic time zone to disable this option.
    • Tap Select time zone and then select the required time zone from the list.
  8. Change the time format:
    Depending on your current settings, tap Use 24-hour format to enable or disable this option. If this option is enabled then the phone will show the time in 24-hour format, while if this option is disabled then the phone will show the time in 12-hour format or AM/PM format.
  9. Change the date format:
    • Tap Select date format.
    • Select the desired date format (dd/mm/yyyy, mm/dd/yyyy, yyyy/mm/dd).
  10. Once done, the date and time on the phone will be displayed according to the date and time setting you have just set before.

FYI, wrong date and time can cause some problems in your phone, for instance you may encounter no-connection error while accessing the Play Store. So, by knowing this step, now you can easily set or correct the date and time automatically or manually as well as adjust the date time format according to your need.

  7. Now you should see a clock on your lock screen.

  5. Now you will see three options available on pop up menu, they are mm/dd/yyyy, dd/mm/yyyy and yyyy/mm/dd. As a note: dd refers to date, mm refers to month and yyyy refers to year.
  6. Tap the desired date format you wish to use. When the dot indicator next to the option shows green means the option is selected.
  7. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.
