Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Take 3D Photos with Virtual Shot Mode in Camera App in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

If you'd like to have an easier way to show others about how an object looks like when it's viewed in different angles with a photo, you can use the virtual shot mode in the Camera app in Galaxy S7 Edge to take a photo of an object with the rear camera so you can view it in 3D. When you take a photo with this mode, the camera will take a series of photos while you're circling the phone around the object to create multi-directional views of the object.


How to take a 3D photo with the virtual shot mode in the Camera app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Camera app. By default, it uses the rear camera with the auto mode.
  2. Tap Mode and then tap Virtual shot to enable this mode.
  3. Aim the camera to an object. To get a better result, make sure to place the object in the centre of the preview screen.
  4. Tap to start taking a 3D photo with the virtual shot mode and then move your phone around the object slowly in one direction(to left or right).
  5. Keep moving your phone around the object while keeping the object centered on the screen until the arrow becomes completely yellow and then your phone will automatically save the photo. Or, you can also manually stop the camera from taking the photo whenever you want by tapping .
  6. Once done, tap the preview thumbnail to view the photo in the Gallery app.
  7. To view the 3D photo, tap in the middle of the photo to have your phone rotates all around the image.
  8. If you'd like to view the object within the photo from different angles, drag your finger left or right on the screen, or tilt your phone left or right.

  1. In the preview screen of the Camera app, tap the preview thumbnail of the slow motion video to view it in the Gallery app.
  2. Tap to play the slow motion video. Your phone will play the video with a randomly set of slow motion section.
  3. Tap to pause the playback.
  4. If needed, you can drag at the beginning or at the end of the video to trim the beginning or end part of the video. If you'd like trim the video with more precisely, tap and hold and then drag it to the left or right so you can move through the section frame by frame.
  5. If needed, you can drag at the beginning or at the end of the slow motion section to adjust the selected area of the video you want to play in slow motion. If you'd like adjust it with more precisely, tap and hold and then drag it to the left or right so you can move through the section frame by frame.
  6. If needed, you can adjust the slow motion speed by tapping within the slow motion section and then tap the current speed option. Select from: 1/2, 1/4, or 1/8(it's enabled by default). As the example, if you select 1/4, your phone will play the video four times slower than the actual speed of the video.
  7. If needed, you can divide a slow motion section into two parts by tapping within the slow motion section and then tap .
  8. Tap to preview the playback.
  9. If you'd like to save the edited video, tap Export. The video will be saved in the Video editor album.

  5. Face the front camera lens.

  1. Open the Camera app. By default, it uses the rear camera.
  2. Tap to switch the camera from the rear to the front.
  3. By default, the front camera uses the selfie mode. If it doesn't uses this mode, tap Mode and then select Selfie to enable this mode.
  4. Face the front camera lens. Make sure your face is not too close with the camera and gets enough lighting so that it can easily be detected.
  5. If needed, you can apply some beauty effects before taking a selfie to have a better result by using these steps:
    • Tap to view available beauty effects.
    • Tap Skin tone and then drag the adjustment bar to the desired level. The higher level of the skin tone setting will make your skin appears brighter and clearer.
    • Tap Spotlight and then drag the adjustment bar of the spotlight position to the desired level. By default, it sets the spotlight position in the center of your face. Here, you can also adjust the brightness by dragging the adjustment bar of the brightness to the desired level.
    • Tap Slim face and the drag the adjustment bar to the desired level. The higher level of the slim face setting will make your face appears slimmer.
    • Tap Large eyes and the drag the adjustment bar to the desired level. The higher level of the large eyes setting will make your eyes appear bigger.
    • If needed, you can tap Shape correction to set this feature to on to correct your face shape when it appears distorted because your face is at the edge of the preview screen. But, you have to remember that enable this feature can make the background appears slightly distorted.
  6. Tap to take a photo of yourself.
