Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Enable and Use Apps Edge Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

When the edge panels feature in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is enabled, you can use it to display various useful panels on the edge screen, one of which is the apps edge panel. When this panel is enabled, you can easily access your most frequently used or favourite apps from the edge screen while the main screen is turned on.

How to enable the apps edge feature?
Assuming that the edge panels feature is on, you can enable the apps edge panel by using the following steps:
  1. While the main screen is turned on, drag the edge screen handle towards the center of the screen to open the edge screen panel.
  2. Tap at the bottom left corner of the screen to quickly go to the edge panels menu.
  3. If needed, swipe the panels list to the left or right to find the apps edge panel and then check the box above it to enable it.
  4. Tap in the apps edge panel to edit it.
  5. To add apps to the apps edge panel, tap the required apps, either those in the Frequently used apps section or All apps section, in the left frame. As the example, if you'd like to add the Facebook app to the apps edge panel, tap the Facebook app icon in the left frame. If needed, tap Add column at the top right so you can display up to 10 apps on the apps edge panel.
  6. To remove the apps from the apps edge panel, tap on the required app in the right frame. As the example, if you'd like to remove Memo app from the apps edge panel, tap on this app.

How to use the apps edge feature?
As the example, we'll use this feature to easily access the Gallery app from the edge screen by using the following steps:
  1. While the main screen is turned on, drag the edge screen handle towards the center of the screen to open the edge panel.
  2. If the edge panel doesn't display the apps edge panel, swipe the edge screen to the right or left until you find it.
  3. Tap the Gallery app icon to launch it.
FYI, if you access the edge panel from the lock screen and are using one of screen lock type with secure lock settings(PIN, password, fingerprints, pattern, or direction lock), you have to perform your current screen lock before the selected app can be opened.
