Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Enable and Use Edge Panels Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Edge panels is one of features in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that works by utilising the edge screen. When this feature is enabled, you can easily access your favourite apps, tasks, contacts, and other useful panels from the edge screen while the main screen is turned on.


How to enable the edge panels feature?
You can turn on this feature by using the following steps:

1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
   
   
2. Scroll down the screen to find Edge screen and then tap it.
   
   
3. Tap Edge panels.
   
   
4. If the edge panels feature is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to the right to turn it on. The switch turns blue when it's enabled.
   
   
5. There are 9 of 12 default panels available(you may need to swipe the screen to the left or right to view all of them) that you can select to be displayed on the edge screen:
   
   • Apps edge panel: enable this panel so you can easily access your favourite apps from the edge screen.
   • Tasks edge panel: enable this panel so you can easily access specific app functions from the edge screen.
   • People edge panel: enable this panel so you can easily communicate, such as make a call, send text or email messages, with your favourite contacts from the edge screen.
   • Yahoo! news panel: enable this panel so you can easily view real-time news from Yahoo! webpage on the edge screen.
   • My Places panel: enable this panel so you can easily access specific function and app shortcuts useful in specific places from the edge screen.
   • Yahoo! finance panel: enable this panel so you can easily view information about your favourite stocks on the edge screen.
   • Yahoo! sports panel: enable this panel so you can easily view information about your favourite teams on the edge screen.
   • Quick tools panel: enable this panel so you can easily use your phone as ruler, compass, or torch.
   • Internet panel: enable this panel so you can go to your favourite webpages quickly from the edge screen.
   • S Planner panel: enable this panel so you can easily view your today's schedule from the edge screen.
   • Weather panel: enable this panel so you can easily view the weather information of your current location from the edge screen.
   • Music panel: enable this panel so you can easily play or control your playlist from the edge screen.
   

   FYI, you may need to configure some panels, such as people edge or tasks edge, before you can use it on the edge screen.

6. If needed, you can download more panels from Galaxy apps store by tapping Download and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
   
   
7. If needed, you can change the order of the enabled panels by using these steps:
   
   • Tap More and then select Reorder.
     
     
   • Drag one of the to the left or right to reorder the selected panels.
     
     

How to use the edge panels feature?
You can do so by using the following steps:

1. While the main screen is turned on, drag the edge screen handle towards the center of the screen to open the edge screen panel.
   
   
2. Swipe the edge screen to the right or left to find the required panel. As the example, if you'd like to view the weather information, swipe the edge screen to the left or right until you find the weather panel.
   
   
3. Tap to quickly go to the edge panels menu.
