Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Adjust Tap and Hold Delay in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

By default, when you do long press in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, your phone will wait for about 0.5 seconds before it opens contextual menu or trigger another actions. However, if this default delay doesn't suit with your need, you can adjust the recognition time for long press in your phone to a shorter or longer duration. As the example, you can select a longer delay if you have difficulty to differentiate between a quick or long press when using a shorter delay, or you can create your own delay if none of the provided delays suit with your need.

How to adjust tap and hold delay?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Personal section and then tap Accessibility. Alternatively, if you have enabled the direct access feature, you can quickly access the accessibility menu by pressing the Home key three times quickly.
  3. Tap Dexterity and interaction.
  4. Tap Tap and hold delay.
  5. Now, you can select the required tap and hold delay from the following options:
    • Short (0.5 seconds)
    • Medium (1.0 second)
    • Long (1.5 seconds)
    • Custom: select this option if you want to create your own delay. You just need to tap and hold your finger in the provided box and then release after the desired length of time. Tap Save button to save your customized delay.
  6. The tap and hold delay has been adjusted.
